Mother of oppositionist Zamin Salayev on hunger strike for 103rd day addressed to Azerbaijani President
Baku/20.05.23/Turan: Mother of oppositionist Zamin Salayev, who has been on hunger strike for 103 days in jail, applied to President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva with the request to release her son from jail.
"After seeing my son in court in a deadly condition, I can't find my place. I live with fear of receiving the news of his death at any moment. For a mother, this is a terrible agony that cannot be described in words. As a mother, I ask you to deliver me from this torment," Shamama Salayeva said in a letter she sent to the country's leadership on 19 May.
According to her, Salayeva's family is greatly worried and worried about him.
"My son's minor daughter cannot eat from grief after seeing her father in court. I cannot look into the eyes of my son's wife and daughter. Please let him go, let him go back to his family even if he is half dead," stressed Salayeva.
*Zamin Salayev was detained on 7 February. The next day, the Garadagh district court arrested him. A criminal case was opened against him under Article 221.3 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism - the use of force against a victim using weapons or objects used as weapons). If the charge is proven, Salayev faces up to five years of imprisonment. Salayev considers his arrest to be a contract and has been on hunger strike for 103 days to protest the court ruling.
