Mother of the person involved in the "Ganja case" appealed to the President of the country
Baku/27.04.21/Turan: The person involved in the "Ganja case" Firudin Zeynalov has been on a hunger strike since April 13 in protest against the unjustified criminal prosecution. His mother, Kifayat Abbasova, appealed to President Ilham Aliyev and Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, expressing concern for her son’s health and calling on the country's leaders to facilitate a fair decision by the court.
Abbasova points out that her son has nothing to do with the assassination attempt on the head of the Ganja Executive Power Elmar Veliyev in July 2018, since at that time he was in prison on another criminal case.
Zeynalov himself said earlier that he was involved in the "Ganja case" because on June 14, 2018, he addressed the people from prison, wishing "a speedy victory over the dictatorial regime."
* On July 3, 2018, an attempt was made on the life of Elmar Veliyev, the then head of the city of Ganja. A native of Ganja, Yunis Safarov wounded Veliyev and his bodyguard on the head.
After that, a protest rally in front of the Ganja administration building was scheduled for July 10. On that day, riots broke out in the city, during which two police officers were killed. This was followed by mass arrests of believers and others.
For these events, lawsuits have been filed against 70 people. The defendants were sentenced to imprisonment from six to 18 years. About 10 people were released on parole. The trial against Safarov and 11 others began in January 2020. —30D06-
