Muslim Unity activist detained in Turkey delivered to Baku
Baku / 23.03.19 / Turan: Anar Jabbarov, an activist of the Muslim Unity Movement (DME), was detained in Turkey and taken to Baku on March 22 and transferred to the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDOC) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reads the message posted on the DME page on facebook.
Jabbarov was detained in Turkey under the pretext of "problems" in documents. He was illegally detained for three days at the police station. Then Jabbarov was transferred to the police department Binkilich Gech. He was held there for 4 days, stating that updates were being made and he would soon be released. Jabbarov"s lawyer could not obtain reliable information about the defendant"s fate. On March 21, Jabbarov was taken to the consulate general of Azerbaijan in Turkey, where a brief conversation took place between the staff of the diplomatic mission and Turkish officials, after which the activist was returned to the designated police department.
On March 22, a lawyer who came to meet with Jabbarov discovered that he was again taken to the general consulate. Turkish authorities handed over Jabbarov to the staff of the consulate. On March 22, Jabbarov was taken to Baku and transferred to the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime.
The mass arrests of DME activists began in November 2015 after a special operation in the village of Nardaran. There are currently 46 convicted activists and a DME supporter, including the leader of the organization Thale Bagirzade, in prisons. -06D--

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony.
