Neftchala was not allowed to commemorate the late oppositionist
Baku/30.07.19/Turan: In the Neftchala district, the police forbade the wake of the deceased activist of the Popular Front Party (PFPA) Elnur Farajev.
He died a few weeks after being released from prison last May.
On July 30, parents were going to hold a commemoration on the occasion of Farajhev's birthday.
However, his father Huseyn Farajhev on July 29 was summoned to the district police department, where he was warned about the inadmissibility of the commemoration, Turan was told in the PFPA.
The police said that only family members can visit the grave of the deceased.
The ban in the police explained the "political nature" of the event.
It was not possible to get comments from the Neftchala police station and the Interior Ministry Farajov was arrested in December 2016 and sentenced to 3 years in prison on charges of drug trafficking.
Human rights activists recognized him as a political prisoner. In prison, it was revealed that he has an oncological disease. In May 2018, the seriously ill Farajev was pardoned, and died on 9 August. -05D06-
