"New political configuration" did not bring positive changes

Baku/29.07.21/Turan: In 2020, a new stage of political dialogue between the government and the opposition has been announced in Azerbaijan. The head of the department for work with political parties and the legislative branch of the Presidential Administration, Adalat Valiyev, met with 49 leaders of political parties. During the meeting, he said that the dialogue between the authorities and the opposition, among other things, should primarily serve the development of the state. This process was called the "New Political Configuration".

Only two parties - the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan and the Musavat Party are not involved in this political configuration.

There any socio-political consequences of this dialogue between the authorities and the opposition, which lasted more than a year? Does society feel them?

In his congratulatory speech on the Novruz holiday on March 19, 2020, President Ilham Aliyev said that the Presidential Administration has offered dialogue to all political parties. "This is a very serious step. It is no secret that today the government of Azerbaijan is stronger than ever. We believe that the strong should take the first step, come up with the first proposal and, if I may say so, point the way to the lost. That is, we did it, and I am glad that the overwhelming majority of the political spectrum reacted positively to this initiative; in fact, the political dialogue has already begun. I am confident that the results will be positive for our people and for the future development of our country. "

Fazail Agamaly, a member of the parliamentary committee on legal policy and state building, chair of the “Rodina” Party, told Turan that the continuation of relations between the authorities and the opposition at a normal level is considered a success of society. “This means the stability of the political environment and the formation of a high political culture. From this point of view, political reforms occupy an important place among the large-scale reforms carried out by the President of the country.

He noted that serious steps are being taken to create and develop a new political configuration. “Opposition parties are already represented in the parliament leadership in the Milli Mejlis. At the same time, as a result of the reforms, the creation of a new department for work with political parties and legislative bodies in the Presidential Administration and the introduction of Adalat Veliyev, who has a positive image in our society, played a positive role. ...

According to him, contacts have already been established with political parties operating outside the Milli Mejlis, which are involved in various projects. “With the exception of two parties - PFPA and Musavat, all parties participate in all events, from video conferences to visits to the liberated lands. I hope that the political dialogue will continue to bring positive results. "

Agamaly stressed that during the 44-day war, all political parties were with the state, the Supreme Commander and the army, and a statement was signed on this matter. "This is one of the very positive aspects of the dialogue."

According to the committee member, political parties will continue to be able to participate in construction work in Azerbaijan within the framework of their charters and powers. “They can observe the restoration work and express their opinion about it. If there is a defect, they can show it. At the same time, the steps taken by our state can be commended. "

He said that overall, the dialogue is yielding positive results, and more positive concrete results will be achieved in the future.

Political analyst Nasimi Mammadli believes that what happened is not a dialogue.

He said that during the dialogue, different views on how to solve different problems and the search for their solutions should be specifically discussed. "But here, basically, the authorities invite the leaders of different political parties, talk about their personal problems and issues of interest to them."

The expert noted that these negotiations are closed to the public. “In other words, it is not clear what exactly these negotiations are about. Are there any social issues, economic issues, humanitarian issues or the Karabakh problem being discussed? Unknown. Therefore, these negotiations cannot be called a dialogue. "

Mammadli believes that these conversations have no impact on society. "Because these meetings did not bring positive changes." -0-
