Newspapers Transferred to Prison Censored
In Prison N 13, Anar Mammadli and other political prisoners are given independent newspapers with a 3-4 day delay. However, some publications are cut from them. This was reported by the Committee to Protect the Rights of the Head of the Election Monitoring Center Anar Mammadli, citing relatives of the convicted person.
Family members visited Mammadli on March 11. He maintains good spirits. Despite the absence of serious health problems, Mammadli continues to be treated for the aggravated allergies.
Earlier, Mammadli complained about the poor conditions of his detention. However, after an appeal to the leadership of the jail, he was transferred to another barrack, and now he has no complaints about the conditions.
Last week Mammadli was visited by PACE rapporteurs Pedro Agramunt and Tadeusz Iwinski, and before that, the EU Special Representative for Human Rights Stavros Lambiridis and the head of the EU mission in Baku Malena Mard.
During these meetings they discussed the problem of political prisoners, their conditions of detention and the upcoming parliamentary elections in the autumn.
Mammadli was arrested on December 16, 2013 and sentenced to 5.5 years in prison on charges of economic crimes.
Mammadli is acknowledged by Amnesty International as prisoner of conscience. He was awarded the International Vaclav Havel Prize for Human Rights. -06D--

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
