Nine people arrested in connection with the incident in Imishli after the accident with the death of children

A group of people have been arrested for committing hooliganism in a public place in the Imishli district. This was stated in a statement by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan.

According to the department, "in connection with the open criminal case, the defendants have been provided with lawyers, and measures provided by law are being taken to conduct the investigation objectively."

At the same time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs does not name the number of detainees and does not disclose their identities.

However, the photo distributed by the department shows nine detainees.

On January 18, in the Imishli district of Azerbaijan, there was an accident involving a police car, as a result of which two children were killed and three more people were injured. The collision of a police car with children caused protests among local residents.

A group of angry people smashed the police car and clashed with security forces, several people were detained.

A criminal case was opened in the Imishli District Prosecutor's Office on the fact of the accident under Article 263.3 (violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles, which resulted in the death of two or more persons through negligence) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Two children died as a result of the accident. Two more children and the driver of the police car were seriously injured.
