Number of Taxi Cars in Baku Halved
Following the introduction of regulations in the taxi sector, the number of cars involved in providing taxi services in Baku has halved, now amounting to 35,000. This was announced today by Rahman Gummatov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, at a briefing dedicated to the improvement of mobility legislation.
According to him, the new regulatory measures in the taxi sector will continue. Gummatov also discussed measures for creating parking spaces. He stated that, to date, 19,000 parking spaces have been created in Baku. Financial sanctions are planned for individuals and legal entities that illegally create parking spaces for vehicles.
The official also pointed out the illegality of collecting cash payments for parking. It is worth noting that new rules regulating taxi operations were introduced in Azerbaijan on July 1. These rules have tightened the requirements for vehicles used for passenger transportation. Specifically, the use of cars over 15 years old for taxi services is prohibited.
