One of the Azerbaijani satellites went out of order, collided with space debris
Baku/20.04.23/Turan: The Azerbaijani satellite "Azersky" has failed after colliding with space debris or a small meteorite, the country's space agency "Azerkosmos" announced on April 20. The attempts of "Azerkosmos" to restore communication with the satellite failed, the report says.
During the period of operation of this satellite, an income of 105 million manats was received. Satellite images worth 150 million manats were transferred to the state structures of Azerbaijan. Thus, the income was 1.5 times higher than the funds invested in the satellite, "Azerkocmos" notes. In addition, the satellite was insured for 45 million manats. A year ago, "Azerkosmos" launched the production of a new satellite with higher data.
As for the lost "Azersky" satellite, it was manufactured and transferred to Azerbaijan by the French company Airbus Defense and Space. It was launched into orbit in June 2014 and was used for national security, defense, environmental protection, emergency situations, in the oil and gas sector, land reclamation and water management, etc. This satellite has played an important role in controlling the situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
In addition to "Azersky", Azerbaijan owns two more telecommunications satellites - "Azerspace-1", which was launched in 2013 and "Azerspace-2", launched in 2018.
In 2020, various companies in 30 countries of the world used the services of Azerbaijani satellites. At the same time, the main users of "Azerkosmos" services are companies from the USA, Great Britain, France, Germany and Malaysia. ---02D---
