Participants in the rally in support of Mehman Huseynov arrested
Baku/07.01.18/Turan: Seven participants of yesterday's protest in support of the blogger Mehman Huseynov, today were sentenced by the Yasamal District Court to various measures of administrative punishment.
According to human rights activists who monitor the situation, journalist from Monitor TV Ismail Islamoglu and activist Goshgar Ahmedov were sentenced to 20 days of administrative arrest.
Mete Turksoy received 25 days of arrest as an organizer. Orhan Mamedov, Bakhtiyar Mamedli and Elchin Ragimzade each were fined 400 manat, and Yashar Haspoladov - 450 manat.
All of them are found guilty under Article 513.1 (violation of the rules of holding meetings) and 513.2 (participation in violation of the rules of holding meetings) of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
The rally was held on the eve of the Baku Court of Appeal in protest against the pressure on the convicted blogger Mehman Huseynov, who was accused of attacking warder. -B06-
