Patients Headed for Dialysis on Foot
Baku / 06.06.20 / Turan: Vusal Mammadov, who needs kidney dialysis, complained of difficulties in attending the procedure due to the imposed strict quarantine regime for the weekend.
“My wife and I suffer from kidney disease and three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays we get dialysis in the Republican Hospital. Due to the ban imposed on the weekend, we are unable to reach the hospital. Transport does not work, while not a single government agency helps,” Mammadov told Turan.
He noted that appeals to the ambulance station, the service 102 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the "hot line" of the Ministry of Emergencies were in vain.
“We are told that they do not have the due authority, and this is not their sphere. Two days ago we contacted TƏBİB (Territorial Medical Management Unit (OUTMP)), but didn’t receive an answer. Therefore, we have to walk from Sumgait to the hospital on foot and walk for 40 minutes under the scorching sun,” Mammadov said.
In turn, the head of the OUTMP press service, Ravana Aliyeva, told Turan that those in need of dialysis can come to medical facilities in a private vehicle.
“A corresponding letter was sent from the State Agency for Compulsory Medical Insurance to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In addition, in the morning people delivered for dialysis by ambulance cars return home with transport provided by the Outpatient Care Department,” Aliyeva said. –021D06-
