Baku/27.06.20/Turan: An activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan Faig Rashidov was arrested in administrative order for 10 days, reported to Turan in PFPA.
He was detained on June 26 in Ismayilli by local police. Today the district court sentenced him to 10 days of arrest, convicting under the Article 388-1.1 (posting on an informational Internet resource prohibited for dissemination of information, as well as not stopping the placement of such information) CAO Azerbaijan.
PFPA considers the accusation far-fetched and is regarded as a violation of the activist’s freedom of expression for his critical publications on social networks.
The party noted, earlier Rashidov was repeatedly subjected to pressure for his political views and activity on social networks.

A coalition of 159 professors and academics from 100 universities across 28 countries has urged Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, and COP29 President, Mukhtar Babayev, to advocate for the release of Dr. Gubad Ibadoghlu, an academic economist and environmental activist who has been under indefinite house arrest since July 2023.
