PFPA activist launched a hunger strike in the colony
Baku/05.08.21/Turan: On August 4 , Alizamin Salayev, an activist of the Party of People's Front of Azerbaijan (PPFA) launched a hunger strike in the colony number 17 protesting against a failure to render a medical aid to him. This was reported to Turan by his son Ogtay Salaev.
According to him, the activist suffers from cardiac distress and enlarged liver. "They don't even transfer him to the medical unit of the colony, let alone to the hospital," Ogtay Salayev said.
In turn, A. Salayev's lawyer, Elchin Sadygov, stated that he was aware of Salayev's health problems, but could not get access to him yet. "Yesterday I was not allowed to see him. Today I will try again to get an appointment,"the lawyer said.
The department of public relations of the penitentiary service told Turan that there was no written appeal about A. Salayev's hunger strike.
"If he has any health problems, then there is a doctor in the institution and they will take care of him," the department said.
* It should be recalled that Alizamin Salayev was convicted on April 20, 2020 by the Salyan regional court and sentenced to 2 years and 3 months of imprisonment on of "slander "and" insult" charges on the basis of a complaint from a local policeman.
The reason for the claim was a video distributed by Salaev on the Internet where he, in an interview with a police officer, accused him of inciting a 21-year-old local female resident to cohabitation.
Salaev was recognized by human rights activists as a political prisoner — - 03B06-
