PFPA activists detained in front of the court building released
Baku / 07.01.18 / Turan: All activists of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan detained today in front of the Baku Serious Crimes Court have been released.
They were caught by the police without any reason, just because they came to the court building to support those arrested in the case of "On illegal financing of the PFPA".
One of the detainees, Nemat Aliyev, told that police attacked them unexpectedly, and forcibly put them in cars, brought them to the 22nd police station in Nasimi. "Five hours later we were released," said Aliyev.
According to him, the police did not demand any written explanations from the detainees and did not issue any warnings.
According to him, the police first tried to present their actions, "not subordinating the police".
"We did not offer any resistance, we just waited in the square for the results of the trial," Aliyev said.
He regarded the detention of activists for five hours in the police as unlawful restriction of freedom.
The attempts to get comments at the 22nd police station were futile. -05B06--
