PFPA informs about new detentions, arrests, searches
Baku/28.07.20/Turan: The Popular Front Party reports on the ongoing detentions and arrests of members of this opposition party.
Activists of the Sabunchi regional organization Yashar Kerimov and Emin Farhadov were detained today.
Elnur Yusubov, an instructor of the PFPA organizational department, detained the day before, was arrested for 30 days by a court decision.
Today, the Baku Court of Appeal rejected complaints about the arrest of the PFPA members: Makhabbat Nagiyev, Jeyhun Novruzov and Telman Seyfullaev.
The latter participated in the trial on-line. He did not complain about the torture, but said that he had not been able to change clothes for 10 days.
Lawyer Bakhtiyar Hajiyev petitioned to transfer Seifullayev to house arrest. But the petition was rejected.
Today, a search was also carried out at the apartment of a member of the PFPA Presidium Mamed Ibrahim. Interestingly, the security forces issued a search warrant in connection with the criminal case against Ibrahim's son, Mehdi.
It is not clear what the investigators were looking for in the apartment of a person accused of violating quarantine and the spread of coronavirus?
In total, after the July 15 rally in support of the army, about 40 PFPA activists were detained. Fifteen of them are under criminal charges, 10 were arrested under the administrative procedure. Ten were released after interrogation; the status of the rest of the detainees remains unclear. –16B06--
