PFPA Reports Pressure on Oppositionists in Saatly
Baku / 17.01.19 / Turan: In the Saatli region, pressure is being put on activists of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA). They are summoned to "preventive conversations" in the Saatly district police department, and they are warned about the inadmissibility of participating in rallies, the PFPA said.
At the same time, an activist of the party, Kamran Amirov, was taken from the police department to court. His fate is unknown.
It was not possible to get comments from the district police.
The PFPA believes the pressure on activists is connected with the goal of preventing the mass character of the rally of the National Council of Democratic Forces, which is scheduled for January 19.
The action is being held to demand the release of political prisoners and the fight against corruption. -05D06--

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
