Polad Aslanov Refuses to Testify, Considering Investigation against Him “Biased”
Baku / 15.12.19 / Turan: Last Friday, an investigative event was scheduled for journalist Polad Aslanov.
However, the journalist again refused to testify to the investigator, his wife Gulmira Aslanova said on her Facebook page. At the same time, the journalist explained the reasons for the refusal with the ordered nature of the case against him, and the bias of the investigator.
According to the journalist, they take evidence from strangers against him, and also force Aslanov’s acquaintances to incriminate him.
Aslanova emphasizes that the investigation has been going on for more than 6 months.
It has not yet been possible to get comments from the State Security Service.
* Recall that the editor of the website xeberman.com Polad Aslanov was detained on June 12, and the next day the court arrested him for 4 months on charges of Art. 274 (treason) of the Criminal Code. The investigation is conducted by the State Security Service.
On October 5, the period of the journalist's arrest was extended for another 4 months. Local and international organizations condemned the criminal prosecution of Aslanov, believing that the real reason for his arrest is his journalistic activities. -06B-
