Polad Aslanov's wife told about deterioration of her husband's health
Baku/12.01.22/Turan: Editor Polad Aslanov, who has been on a hunger strike since January 6, in jail N1, has nervous attacks, and his tongue becomes obstructed, his wife Gulmira Aslanova told Turan on January 12. According to her, Polad cannot speak and move independently, she was told by unofficial sources, since she was not allowed to keep in touch by phone.
She turned to the ombudswoman's office, where she was assured that Aslanov was under medical supervision.
In turn, the Ombudsman's office told Turan that the representatives of the department visited Aslanov and the results of the visit will be provided with information.
Today Gulmira Aslanova was re-admitted to the Investigation Department of the State Security Service. This time lawyer Elchin Sadigov was with her. However, the meeting was unsuccessful.
According to her, the representative of the State Security Service said that the verdict in this case came into legal force. Now the case is being considered by the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan and interference in the case of the court is impossible.
“My lawyer and I pointed out numerous violations of Polad’s rights: the lack of evidence of his guilt under the Article “treason”. We also pointed out that in the realities of Azerbaijan, the State Security Service has levers of influence on decision-making by the courts,” Aslanova said. She also noted that her husband was supposed to call from the colony this morning.
“He hasn't called until now. Either he was not allowed to call, or he has very serious health problems and is unable to speak. I called the Baku office of the Red Cross Committee. But they only promised to call the administration of the colony, saying that they could not visit Polad today,” said G. Aslanova.
Polad Aslanov is on hunger strike demanding his release from prison and speeding up the consideration of his complaint in the Supreme Court.
