Police used force against Bakhtiyar Hajiyev - lawyer
Baku/03.06.22/Turan: Lawyer Bahtiyar Hajiyev announced the use of violence against him in the 22nd department of the Nasimi district police department. This happened today, when he and his client came to the 22nd department, Hajiyev said.
“We, with my client, who was called to the department, went there together. However, the head of the department, stating that he only called my client, ordered me to be thrown out of the department, rudely saying: “who is a lawyer, I didn’t call you, take him out of here.” After that, two police officers forcibly took me out of the department,” Hajiyev said.
He stated that in connection with the incident he would apply to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Bar Association.
Lawyer Bahtiyar Hajiyev is known for his active citizenship. He acted as a lawyer in a number of high-profile cases, was the defender of Yunis Safarov, convicted in the case of an attempt on the life of the former head of the city of Ganja.
When asked to comment on the lawyer's statement, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that "the issue is being investigated." -21B06
