For 100 days, Russian troops have not achieved a single strategic goal in Ukraine - British intelligence
Kyiv/03.06.22/UNIAN: In comparison with the initial plan, in 100 days the army of the Russian Federation has not achieved any of its strategic goals in Ukraine.
This is stated in the daily summary of British intelligence.
The ministry notes that the Russians failed to achieve their initial goals of capturing Kiev and the centers of power of Ukraine. Thanks to the steady resistance of Ukrainians and the inability of Russians to secure the Gostomel airfield in the first 24 hours, the offensive operation of the Russian Federation was repulsed.
After the failure of the initial plan through erroneous assumptions during planning and poor tactical execution, the Russian Federation adapted its operational plan and focused all attention on the Donbass.
"Russia is now achieving tactical success in the Donbas, Russian troops have created and maintained momentum and now seem to have the initiative over the Ukrainian resistance. Putin's troops control more than 90% of the Luhansk region and will probably establish full control in the next two weeks," the British Defense Ministry believes.
These recent tactical successes of the Russian Federation became possible due to significant losses of resources and due to the concentration of forces and fire on one part of the overall campaign, the department notes.
At the same time, Russia was unable to create a maneuver or movement on other fronts or directions and had to go on the defensive.
"Compared to the initial plan of the Russians, none of their strategic goals have been achieved. In order for the Russian Federation to achieve at least some success, it will need constant large investments and equipment, and this will probably require a considerable amount of time," the intelligence service noted.
Earlier, Western experts explained why the success of Russians in the east is temporary. They predict that within a few weeks the advance of the Russian Federation will stop and we will again witness a positional war.
