Political emigrants claim pressure on their relatives in Azerbaijan
Baku / 13.06.19 / Turan: The organization of Azerbaijani political émigrés in Germany "Choose Democratic Azerbaijan", reported on pressure on members of the families of its activists in Azerbaijan.
In particular, on June 13 the police took away the father of the activist Zia Jabiyev to the Khyzy district police station, and held him there for 4 hours. He was demanded that his son remove from Facebook critical publications addressed to the Azerbaijani authorities, "anti-state appeals" and did not participate in actions against the Azerbaijani authorities.
The man was threatened that otherwise his son would be arrested in Germany and brought in Azerbaijan.
On April 4, brother of Ziya Jabiyev was forced to write a letter of resignation from the Bakı Steel Company in Sumgayit.
Leyla Ismayilova, the mother of another activist, Sabuhi Ismayilov, was dismissed from the post of deputy director of Baku school number 285, accusing of not performing her professional duties.
She was told that a person whose family member has an opposition views could not hold the position.
Family members of Ziya and Elsever Ahadov were also pressured. On May 7, an officer from the Imishly District Police Department and a representative of the executive authorities came to the house of Elsever Ahadov"s father-in-law and interrogated him about the location of his son-in-law and his wife.
Aliyev was told that if his son-in-law and his brother did not stop criticizing the authorities, their relatives would have problems, citing as an example the fate of Taleh Bagirzade.
According to sources in the diaspora, total pressure was put on the relatives of 47 political emigrants.
The brothers of Jamal Seidly and Parviz Abdullayev were arrested. Two sons in law of Iskander Safarli were also arrested. Elshan Hasanov"s father was detained for a day. -06D-
