Political Prisoner Asif Yusifli Released
Baku / 25.11.19 / Turan: Member of the Presidium of the Higher Mejlis of the Popular Front Party Asif Yusifli was released today at the end of his prison term.
As Yusifli told Turan, his health is normal and he is glad that he was not released by pardon.
Asif Yusifli, a disabled person of the Karabakh war, was detained on November 25, 2014 on charges of fraud (Article 178) and forgery of documents (Article 320) of the Criminal Code.
On July 30, 2015, the court found him guilty, sentencing him to 7.5 years in prison. Subsequently, the Supreme Court reduced the sentence to 6 years.
On May 29, 2019, the Surakhani District Court rejected the Yusifli application for parole in connection with the departure of ¾ of the term. Human rights activists recognized him as a political prisoner. -06D-
