Preliminary hearing in the of Parviz Hashimli postponed
Preliminary hearing in the case of the newspaper "Bizim Yol" Parviz Hashimli and Tavakkul Gurbanov was to take place on February 27 in the Baku Serious Crimes Court chaired by Novruz Kerimov. However, the hearing did not take place due to the absence of a lawyer Gurbanov.
Hashimli’s lawyers were given time to familiarize with the materials of the criminal case, and the hearing was postponed to March 4.
Hashimli is accused of smuggling and illegal possession, and sale of weapons that Gurbanov allegedly supplied him. The journalist believes that a provocation was made against him for political motives.
The journalist was arrested on 17 September last year, and the investigation was conducted by the Ministry of National Security.
People close to Hashimli argue that the true reason for his arrest is the refusal of journalist to write "denunciating" article against PFPA leader Ali Kerimli.-16D-
