The 42nd World Chess Olympiad in Baku, the refusal of the Prison Service to release the prisoner Mammad Ibrahim for his father's funeral, a serious decline in exports, and  the spread of cancer among children are the leading topics of today's press.

The official Azerbaijan newspaper published an article on the progress of the Chess Olympiad in Baku. The author recalls that at the opening of the Olympics, President Ilham Aliyev made the first move on Shahriyar Mammadyarov’s board.

The article also refers to the holding of a carpet making exhibition by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan in the framework of the Olympic Games, which shows examples of carpet weaving in different regions of Azerbaijan.

Azadlig writes that the convicted advisor of the Chairman of PFPA, Mammad Ibrahim, was not released to his father's funeral. The managers of Prison №16, where Ibrahim is kept, did not let him join the funeral, thus violating the man’s rights.

His lawyer Yalcin Imanov says that on September 5 he will again apply to the management of the Prison Service on the matter.

Yeni Musavat writes about the tensions in the country’s foreign exchange market and a sharp decrease in exports. According to official data, during the first 7 months of 2016 exports fell by almost 39%.

According to the expert Gubad Ibadoglu with reference to customs, in the last 7 months, oil exports fell 1 million 304 thousand tons, or 9.6%. The export of oil products also decreased.

Revenues from oil exports amounted to 3.55 billion USD, which is 2.31 billion USD, or 39.5% less than in the same period last year.

Exports of petroleum products decreased 259 million USD, or 54.3%.

Revenues from gas exports decreased 2.5 million USD.

Bizim Yol writes about the growth of cancer at children under 13 years of age. During the year, the newspaper said, 10,183 people have been diagnosed with cancer. In 2015, 113 children under 13 years of age were diagnosed with cancer, including 66 boys and 47 girls.   –0-----
