The anniversary of the genocide of Azerbaijanis, the situation of banks, and the decline in the incomes of the population are the leading topics of today's press.
The newspaper Azerbaijan assesses the decree of President Heydar Aliyev of 1998 on the establishment of the day of the genocide of Azerbaijanis on March 31.
In 1918, the Dashnak-Bolshevik forces committed mass killings of Azerbaijanis in Baku.
This was the first comprehensive political and legal document that assessed the actions of Armenian nationalists.
Novoye Vremya publishes an article on the crisis in the banking sector. Today, the courts have 700 thousand cases. Of these, 40%, that is, 280 thousand cases, relate to banking and customer relations. The problem of unpaid loans is still not eliminated, but it is inadmissible to seek solutions to the problem at the expense of citizens.
The website Misavat.com also writes about the responsibility of banks for suicide of people due to credit debts. An example of this is a 55-year-old resident of Sheki who committed suicide because of his debt to a bank. The case has been brought under Article 125 (bringing to suicide). The author notes that lately banks have intensified pressure on their debtors, and collectors are involved in this process.
Echo publishes material on the fall of wages and incomes of the population by 20%. In its reports, the State Statistics Committee usually represents an increase in nominal wages, not real wages. This is a kind of game in figures, which misleads the population. The financial crisis, which reached the country in 2015, still affects the incomes of the population. Meanwhile, in January 2017, the average monthly nominal wage of employees, an increase of 5.1 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2016, was 504.8 manat.
In the CIS rating on the size of the average salary, Russia remains the 1st, Kazakhstan confidently holds the 2nd place, and Armenia is entrenched in the 3rd, pushing Belarus to the 4th. Azerbaijan has dropped to the 5th place, becoming an outsider among the countries of the South Caucasus, although it was formerly the leader there.
