Opinions about the decision of the Tariff Council to increase the cost of travel on public transport and non-working laws are the topic of today's press.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes that the new fares will improve the functioning of the country's transport infrastructure.
The author writes that the cost of travel in the country, in comparison with many countries, is very low. At the same time, expenses for passenger transportation services are growing.
The bus fares last increased in 2007, and the subway fares last grew in 2011.
The Strateq.az website publishes the opinion of MP Ali Masimli, who criticizes the decision to increase the transport fares. Such a decision, the MP believes, will hit hard on the pocket of low-income families.
There are citizens who change several routes per day, so this will also cause serious damage to their budget, the MP believes. The opinion that Azerbaijan has too cheap transport in comparison with other countries is incorrect, since wages in these compared countries are higher.
The website Azadliq.info writes that the laws in the country do not work. At the same time, the phrase "everything will be decided within the law" is very often used by law enforcers with absolutely illegal arrest of one or another oppositionist.
