Press Review December 14, 2017
The development of the country's road infrastructure, Azerbaijan among the countries with the lowest income, and a look at the activities of the Cabinet are the leading topics of today's press.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the development of the road infrastructure in the country and cites the examples of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, the roads within the North-South corridor and the new road to the border with the Russian Federation.
The author lists all project highways, gives figures and how this will affect the country's economy.
The newspaper Echo published an article titled Azerbaijan in the List of the Poorest Countries in Europe".
As a criterion of poverty, the level of wages after the payment of taxes was chosen. It turned out that in Ukraine this amount is the lowest - 190 Euros. The second and third places are occupied by Moldova (216 Euros) and Azerbaijan (232 Euros).
Azerbaijan is one of the poorest countries in terms of the income of the population. This is the situation with the minimum wage. Until 2015, Azerbaijan was one of the leaders after Russia and Kazakhstan in the CIS in terms of income. But the devaluation of the manat has radically changed the situation.
It should be noted that the average monthly nominal wage in Azerbaijan as of October 1, 2017 is 525.6 manats, which is 7.2% more than last year.
The average monthly salary in the capital exceeds the average monthly salary in the country by 33%.
At the same time, the highest salary is for workers in industry, construction and banking. The lowest salaries are in the spheres of education, health and municipal services.
The newspaper Novoye Vremya published an article criticizing the work of the Cabinet.
The economic crisis, the problems of the banking sector, the instability of the domestic currency, inflation, rising prices, the dependence of the economy on the oil factor and the government's complete inaction in counteracting these challenges speak of the poor performance of the government. However, no steps are taken to improve the situation or real reforms. ---0----
