Press Review December 16, 2017

The international significance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, the problems of the banking sector, and the moral state of society are the leading topics of today's press.

The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the international significance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. The author gives figures on the operation of this road, gives the opinion of experts on profitability, transportation of goods and other issues.

The newspaper Novoye Vremya again writes about the deplorable state of the banking sector. The reduction of bank interest on deposits (and this affected deposits both in foreign currency and in manats) caused discontent of all investors.

Currently, 8 banks need to be rehabilitated; most likely, they are threatened with bankruptcy or merger with other banks. Although by and large the entire banking sector of the country, including International Bank, needs rehabilitation.

Azadliq.info writes about the moral aspects of business and about the concept of Halal (fairness for Muslims). The author gives examples of the fact that business is mainly concentrated in "dirty hands", but at the same time, the label Halal is attached to this business. -0---
