Prosecutor General’s Office demands media not to publish information on protests?
Zahir Azamat, the editor of the site "Qaynarinfo.az" was summoned today to the Prosecutor General, where he was interviewed by Deputy Prosecutor General Rustam Usudov He was told that during giving coverage on the recent protests in the regions due to rise in price, the site made "incitement and incitement to illegal actions." Such a conclusion was made by the Press Council on the basis of the monitoring of media publications. The Press Council will present its conclusions to the prosecutor's office for taking measures.
"These statements of the Press Council are illogical and unreasonable. If there is a claim, the Press Council should send a copy of its findings to us. At the same time, our message is not incitement, but only information, photos and video from the scene," said the editor, noting that the deputy prosecutor general did not listen to his explanations, and only made an official warning that he can be summoned again.
"I regard it as a pressure on us, a violation of freedom of speech and press," said the editor. -05B-
