Prosecutor's Office Opens Criminal Case on Explosion in Plant in Sumgayit
Baku / 28.03.19 / Turan: The Sumgayit city prosecutor's office launched a criminal case in connection with the explosion in the STP-3 Metalworking plant on March 22, which resulted in human casualties.
The explosion occurred in the smelting shop after the molten metal hit the cooling radiator. As a result of the incident, the workers Murshud Mammadov, Vugar Jalilov, Jeyhun Garashov and the shop manager Minyaz Seydaliyev, who were hospitalized, received burns of varying degrees. Seydaliev died from his injuries in the hospital on March 27.
A week later, the prosecutor's office opened a criminal case under article 162.2 (Violation of labor protection rules, which resulted in the death of a person through negligence) of the Criminal Code. The necessary investigative and operational measures are continuing to clarify the causes and perpetrators of the incident and bring them to criminal responsibility, the report says. -06D--
