Last night, a group of residents of Salyan district staged a protest, blocking the Alat-Astara, on the site, passing through the village of Khidirli.
As the head of the NGO "Promoting Democracy" Emil Mammadov said, the reason for this was the failure to provide timely medical care to the villager Khidirli Einullah Agayev, born in 1967.
"First aid" was called at 21.30 due to his having a heart attack.
However, doctors arrived in the Khidirli village, located 45 km away from the district center, just before midnight, by which time the patient had died of the heart attack.
Outraged local residents attempted to set fire to the ambulance, but it was averted.
Then a group of local residents took to the streets to protest and burned car tires. Movement was blocked for 2 hours.
The police leadership of the district arrived at the scene and after negotiations with the protesters, the road was opened. However, the district leadership meeting with the locals continued until 4 am.
The representative of the executive branch of the village, Khidirli Vagif Huseinov, confirmed the protest was due to the late arrival of the ambulance and the death of a local resident.
But on Tuesday morning, the situation had calmed down in the village.
According to a senior doctor in the Salyan ambulance station, doctors arrived in the village on time. -016D06 -

In Azerbaijan, certain new developments are anticipated regarding the provision of some medicines to citizens under the mandatory health insurance services package. This issue may be reflected in amendments to the "Law on Medical Insurance," discussed in the Health Committee of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) and recommended for the parliament's plenary session. According to the proposed changes, the medicines guaranteed for use in outpatient or inpatient settings will be defined by the services package.
