Rail Abbasov
Baku/20.09.23/Turan: Public activist Rail Abbasov was detained by officers of the Nasimi district police department of Baku on September 19.
This was reported by the lawyer Zibeyda Sadygova. According to her, Abbasov was detained as a suspect in a criminal case under Article 178.3.2 of the Criminal Code (Fraud committed with causing major damage) on the basis of a complaint from a certain citizen.
"Rail Abbasov does not accept the charges and declares that they want to arrest him in order to remove activist Bakhtiar Hajiyev from public protection," the lawyer said.
In turn, human rights activist Rufat Safarov also believes that Rail Abbasov was persecuted because of the protection of Bakhtiar Hajiyev. It was not possible to get comments from the Interior Ministry. -03B-
