Baku/ 23.11.17/Turan: On the night of November 23 unknown people got into the private house of the editor-in-chief of the website Realliq.info Ikram Rahimov in the Mehdiabad settlement of Baku and stole his laptop and processor with a monitor.

Rahimov told Turan on the phone that he discovered the infiltration of thieves at 7 am on his return home. At the time of the theft, there was no one in the house.

"My family is outside Baku, in the village with relatives, which means the thieves knew there was no one at home," the editor said, noting that all the taps in the house were broken, the water pipes and the electrical wiring were cut, and the doors of the house and the courtyard gates were closed from the inside.

After the editor"s appeal the police arrived at the site and recorded the fact of theft and vandalism.

"I do not think this was committed with the goal of banal theft as the thieves did not touch the plasma TV and other items. They stole exactly the media, which contained the facts of corruption and unlawful actions of officials, about which I wrote," Rahimov said.

He said his profile on Facebook was hacked and is now used by unknown people.

The editor believes that behind these actions are the authorities, who began his harassment and persecution.

The day before the website www.realliq.info and 13 other websites were blocked by the Ministry of Communications at the call of the Press Council, which unfoundedly accused these Internet resources of racketeering and included them to the so-called "black list".

The websites wrote about illegal enrichment by members of the Board of the Press Council and about the arbitrariness of officials and corruption.

The leaders of the blocked Azerbaijani websites believe the Socio-Political Department of the Presidential Administration, the Press Council and the Media Development Support Fund are the culprits of this.

The actions of the Press Council and the Ministry of Communications have been recognized by media experts as illegal. The appeal of the Press Council to the Ministry of Communications to block the websites and their blocking without a court decision is illegal, the known media expert Alesker Mammadli told Turan. -0-
