Relatives of Taleh Bagirzadeh Announce Provocations against Him in Prison
Baku / 05.01.18 / Turan: Family members of the convicted leader of the movement Muslim Unity, Taleh Bagirzadeh, are worried about his fate.
According to them, Bagirzadeh had called his relatives the day before and said they were provoking him to unlawful actions in the Gobustan prison.
There are injuries on Taleh's body. The telephone conversation was often interrupted because of which his relatives did not understand what had happened: he was beaten or he caused himself injuries, one family member said.
"We do not exclude that there may be a provocation against Taleh to declare that he has injured himself," said a family member who wished to remain anonymous.
In turn, the head of the public relations department of the Prison Service, Mehman Sadigov, denied allegations of pressure on Bagirzadeh.
"There was no pressure on Bagirzadeh, no injuries were inflicted on him, and he was also not reprimanded. Let him be quiet and serve his sentence, and nobody touches him," Sadigov said.
Bagirzadeh was arrested in connection with the Nardaran events of 2015 and sentenced to 20 years in prison on charges of attempting to forcibly change the constitutional order, terrorism and other serious crimes. -06D-

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
