Religious figure Javid Mammadov is released
A theologian from Saliyan region, Javid Mammadov, was released on August 2, Turan was told by Emil Mammadov, the head of a local NGO "In Support of Democracy."
The theologian was arrested on October 5, 2012 by the police of Nasimi district police of Baku, and was charged with organizing the action of Islamists in defense of hijab.
However, later he was charged with illegal possession of weapons, and was sentenced to one year in prison. There left two years and a half till the end of his sentence.
Javid Mammadov was one of those religious leaders who in 2011 sent an appeal to the president demanding to lift the ban on headscarves in schools. -05B-

On September 16, the Central Election Commission (CEC) submitted the protocols of the extraordinary parliamentary elections to the Constitutional Court. Although there were many complaints regarding the election process, the CEC did not affect the results in any constituency but annulled the results in more than 40 polling stations overall. The commission declared that the elections were conducted at a high level. However, several opposition forces stated that the elections were conducted based on pre-prepared lists.
