Representatives if Civil Society visit the families of political prisoners Intigam Aliyev and Fuad Gahramanli
The representatives of the Committee to Protect Civil Society and the Alliance "Azerbaijan without political prisoners" visited the families of political prisoners Intigam Aliyev and Fuad Gahramanli, and congratulated the family of the journalists on the occasion of Novruz holiday.
Human rights activist, lawyer, law professor Intigam Aliyev was sentenced on 22 April to 7.5 years in prison under the Articles: 213.1. (evasion of taxes or fees on compulsory state insurance in significant size), 308.2 (abuse of power) and 192.2 (illegal entrepreneurship). International human rights organization Amnesty International has recognized Aliyev "prisoner of conscience."
Deputy Chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Fuad Gahramanli was arrested on 8 December, 2015. He was charged under the Articles 281.1 (public appeals directed against the state) and 283.2.1 (inciting national, racial, social or religious hatred and enmity with the use of violence or threat of violence) of the Criminal Code.
Earlier, representatives of civil society visited the families of political prisoners Saraj and Faraj Kerimli, Nemat Panahli, Mammad Ibrahim Gorkmaz Jamalov, Ilkin Rustamzade, Elvin Abdullayev, Seymour Hazy, and congratulated them on the holiday. -0-
