The fate of the 29 oil workers stranded in the open sea in an oil platform accident in the field Gunashli on December 4 remains unknown. Their search continues. Also unknown are the whereabouts of two oilmen that fell into the sea from another offshore platform. Turan was told in the SOCAR headquarters for the rescue.

Earlier found dead was one killed in the first accident, and another killed in the second. Thus, the total number of lost people is 31.

According to experts, the chances of finding someone alive is virtually none. In December the water temperature does not exceed 7-8 ° C. A man can withstand such hypothermia 30 minutes or an hour.

If we consider the gale and the multimeter waves, rescue in such a situation can only be marvellous.

According to the staff, some of the items from the platform were found by rescuers 40-50 km away from the accident site. This suggests that the people were swept over many kilometers from the scene.

Against this background, the primary statement by SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev is puzzling. He said that no one was killed, and all are saved. Such irresponsible and inept organization of rescue operations, including interruption of the cable, which is why 32 people fell into the sea, will be the subject of discussion for a long time.

In the meantime, it is a new sad record for the death of oilmen in the Caspian Sea.

The previous record - 22 killed in a rig crash in 1957, has been beaten. -03B-
