Reserve officers demanded the resignation of the defense minister and the head of the General Staff
A group of reserve officers began a campaign of collecting signatures on a petition protesting against the "mismanagement" of the Ministry of Defence. Turan was told by the head of the Union of Reserve Officers Yashar Jafarli.
The appeal will be sent to the President, the Attorney General, the Minister of National Security, the Ombudsman, etc.
One reason for the action is the growing dynamics of deaths of soldiers in the last 10 years. Moreover, 85-90% of these deaths occur in non-combat situations. The worst thing is that these losses are not investigated.
The arrested officers are judged not for the death of soldiers, but for bribery and embezzlement.
There is a disruption of social justice in social security and other personnel matters.
Apartments of officers in cantonments are not privatized. Their homes are demolished and in their place skyscrapers are erected, where the officers are not given apartments. There are facts of exception of officers from the waiting list for housing.
At favorites of the minister even serious offences are not considered "errors", while at the officers disliked by the minister even small errors are announced very serious ones.
"With this attitude and views they can not control the army, so the defense minister and the chief of staff should resign," said Jafarli.
Due to problems in the army a number of military NGOs plan to hold a rally in Baku in February. -05B06-
