Residents of Salyan region appeales to Ilham Aliyev
Three hundred and fifty residents of Salyan region appealed to the head of state with a request for fair investigation in the case of the local civic activist Emil Mammadov. The appeal noted that the Association “In Support of Democracy” registered in 2007 deals with social and environmental protection of the citizens of surrounding areas.
The persecution of the leadership of the Association represented, Emil Mammadov, started after he revealed the facts of embezzlement of funds in Salyan region , reads the appeal to the head of state and head of presidential administration Ramiz Mehdiyev. Thereafter, the executive power of the region began persecution against Emil Mammadov, and announced him an enemy. On April 4 an employee of the Association, Tofiq Qasimov, was arrested on a concocted charge.
Since April 7, the executive power of the region is forcing government employees to file complaints against Emil Mammadov, and accuse him of extortion. At the same time, Tofig Qasimov was made to testify against Emil Mammadov. As a result, on May 13 Emil Mammadov was summoned for questioning and was arrested for three months.
Taking into account the above mentioned, residents of Salyan region ask the president of the country to give an instruction on an objective investigation of the case. -16D-
