Riots in Iran Caused by Anti-Azerbaijani TV Show (video)
In several cities of Iran, mainly populated by Azerbaijanis (South Azerbaijan) on November 9 there was a protest of youth. They protested against "racist" policies of the Iranian authorities, which resulted in an insulting telecast on one of the Iranian channels.
During the rallies in the cities of Tabriz, Urmia, Sulduz, Ardabil, Maraga, Hoi and Tehran, thousands of protesters raised placards demanding an end to violations of the rights of cultural and ethnic Azerbaijanis, as well as to ensure freedom of expression.
According to a number of Western media and messages in social networks, demonstrators were in clashes with police in Ardabil and Tabriz, with several people wounded.
As for the causes of the protests, on November 6, Iran state television Iran-2 showed a program Wick with a humorous plot. Two tourists speaking in Azerbaijani express their dissatisfaction with the bad smell in their room to the hotel administrator. The administrator, speaking in Farsi, explains that the bad smell is coming from the tourists themselves, and sprays deodorant on them. After that, the tourists calm down, apologize and go away.
After the appearance of the show, deputies and politicians also expressed their protest to Iranian TV. The managers of the channel removed the show from the air and apologized. However, this did not satisfy the millions of Azerbaijanis in Iran who continue to protest, demanding that the country's leadership express its attitude to this and the parliament pass a law against racism. -03D04-
