Sabunchu district police chief arrested
Baku/20.12.21/Turan: The former chief of police of the Sabunchu district of the capital Rza Hajiyev has been arrested for shooting at the car of citizen Shirzad Guliyev. The incident took place on December 16 at 11 p.m. in Pirshaga settlement. The press service of the Interior Ministry told the Turan agency.
Under the same source, during the operational actions, the ex-policeman was detained and an AKMS assault rifle with ammunition was seized from him. He was arrested for three months by court decision.
It is not reported what charges were brought against the colonel and under what article the criminal case was initiated.
It will suffice to mention that befor heading the Sabunchu police department, Rza Hajiyev headed the rapid response regiment of the Baku police. This unit was noted for numerous violent dispersals of opposition protests.
Besides, Rza Hajiyev is the brother of the national hero Alif Hajiyev, military commandant of the Khojali airport who was killed during the capture of the town by Armenian formations on February 26, 1992. -05B-
