School Principal May Be Arrested in Student Suicide Case
Baku / 08/08/19 / Turan: The former director of school number 162 Sevinj Abbasova may be arrested in the suicide case of 8th grade student Elina Hajiyeva in April 2019.
On August 7, the Sabail District Court restored the right of the injured party to appeal against the preventive measure against Abbasova in the form of house arrest.
On August 8, the Baku Court of Appeal, chaired by Mirzali Abbasov, will consider replacing the preventive measure with arrest.
On April 8, a student of school number 162, born in 2004 Elina Hajiyeva, jumped from the third floor of the school. A criminal case was filed under Article 125 (suicide) of the Criminal Code.
The school principal, Abbasova, was charged with charges under Article 143 (leaving the victim in danger) and 314.2 (negligence resulting in the death of the victim) of the Criminal Code. By a court decision in respect of her, a preventive measure in the form of house arrest was chosen.
The injured party insists on the arrest of Abbasova. A month ago, the period of house arrest was extended. However, this decision was made without the knowledge of the injured party and they missed the deadline for appeal. In this regard, the Baku Court of Appeal returned the case to the court of first instance to restore the terms of the appeal. -06D-
