A preliminary hearing in the case of 15 people arrested in May of this year in the Sheki-Zagatala zone took place on Tuesday in Sheki District Court. It is noteworthy that then it was stated that they were arrested on terrorism charges.
However, according to sources in Sheki, the defendants were charged only with illegal possession of firearms (shotguns). Only relatives of the accused were allowed into the courtroom.
Police did not miss the rest of the room. Turan failed to get official comments in Sheki district court about the identity of those arrested, their lawyers and the specific charges.
Representative of the court only confirmed that the defendants are charged under Article 228.2.2 of the Criminal Code (illegal possession of arms, ammunition, explosives.)
In May this year on the eve of "Eurovision" contest in Baku, the police conducted a series of special operations in the capital, Ganja, Sumgayit, and in Zagatala, Gakh, Shaki, Gusar, Absheron, Khachmaz and Shabran areas. During one of the operations the officer of the National Security Ministry was killed. At the same time, several armed men were killed, and more than 40 people were detained.
According to official reports, the group members planned attacks in Baku city during the "Eurovision" and also directly in the concert hall.
It is possible that 15 people who have been brought to trial in Sheki are the members of that group.—06D-

A fire has erupted at the Experimental and Testing Production of the Scientific Research Institute of SOCAR (the state oil company) in the Surakhani district of Baku, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
