Sentencing R. Mirkadyrov postponed indefinitely
Today’s closed trial in the Baku Serious Crimes Court heard to the closing statement of the journalist Rauf Mirkadyrov accused of treason. The journalist denied the accusation, and asked the court to acquit him, said his lawyer Fuad Agayev. Earlier, the prosecutor asked the court to sentence Mirkadyrov to seven years in prison for treason. The journalist was arrested on April 19 and was charged with espionage in favor of Armenia. Human rights advocates acknowledge Mirkadyrov political prisoners. -06D-
