Seven People Injured in Fire at Plant in Sumgayit
Baku / 07.08.20 / Turan: Seven people were injured in a fire that occurred today at the ethylene-polyethylene plant of the Azərikimya Production Association of SOCAR in Sumgayit.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as a result of the urgent measures taken, the fire was localized, and at present, measures are continuing to completely extinguish the fire.
In turn, SOCAR said the state of emergency did not occur during the production process.
It was suspended due to a scheduled technical inspection as part of the modernization and reconstruction of the plant.
During the work by the contractor companies, a short circuit occurred, which caused the fire, SOCAR said.
In turn, the TƏBIB (Joint Administration of Territorial Medical Units) reported that out of 7 victims, one was provided with outpatient care on the spot.
The other six victims were sent to Baku, to the Burn Center, and one of them is in a reportedly serious condition. -0-
