Baku/02.06.22/ Turan: Shahla Ismail, the head of the Women for Rational Development society, was awarded the National Order of France (Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite) for her contribution to the development of gender equality and peacekeeping.

The award ceremony took place at the French Embassy on June 2. Presenting the order, French Ambassador Zakariy Gross spoke about Ismail's merits in protecting women's rights, developing an inclusive society, and establishing peace in the South Caucasus region.

“Ms. Ismail has made a great contribution to the solution of gender issues, and we hope that this issue will be resolved one day,” he said. In response, Shahla Ismail expressed her gratitude for such a high assessment of her activities.

“I catch myself saying that since childhood I wanted to protect someone, but I didn’t think that I would ever be rewarded for this,” she remarked sentimentally.

Shahla Ismail is highly professional in her work and is a participant in various initiatives, including in the field of democracy, human rights, and the peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

Representatives of the diplomatic corps of a number of countries and civil society of Azerbaijan took part in the award ceremony. –0—
