Smuggling 2,171 carats of diamonds
Baku/09.04.21/Turan: A large batch of undeclared diamonds was found in the baggage of a passenger who arrived on a flight from Istanbul, the country's Customs Committee said on Friday.
The diamonds were spotted during an X-ray inspection of baggage. The gems were packaged in 10 plastic bags and placed in a cookie box.
441 grams of diamonds with a total weight of 2171 carats are estimated at about 224 thousand manats.
It is not reported what is the name of the owner of the baggage and when exactly this happened. -02D-
