Tale Bagirzade continues hunger strike for 15 days
Baku / 11.12.22 / Turan: The leader of the Muslim Unity Movement (MUM) Tale Bagirzade has been on hunger strike for the 15th day in colony n 12.
As Turan was told in the MUM, on December 11, Bagirzade called home and informed about the continuation of the hunger strike.
“Bagirzade is not starving for his own sake – he is sure that in any case he will be sent to the Gobustan prison on a far-fetched pretext. The purpose of his action is to draw attention to the arbitrariness in the prisons of Azerbaijan, to the rude, bad, inhuman treatment of prisoners,” the MUM said.
The MUM also pointed to the deterioration of Bagirazade's health.
To periodic fevers and chills, dizziness, headaches, nausea, and general lethargy were added.
It was not possible to get comments from the Penitentiary Service.
* Bagirzade went on a hunger strike on November 26, after he was transferred from the Gobustan prison to colony n 12 and immediately subjected to insults from the deputy head of the institution.
** In 2015, Bagirzade was arrested during a special operation in Nardaran and sentenced to 20 years in prison on charges of terrorism, an attempt to change the constitutional order, the creation of an illegal armed group, etc. He was recognized as a political prisoner.-03B06-
