Taleh Bagirzade demands transfer to another colony
Baku/04.12.22/Turan: The leader of the Muslim Unity Movement, Taleh Bagirzade, continues his hunger strike in prison and demands his transfer to another colony. This was reported by lawyer Fakhraddin Mehdiyev, who visited Bagirzade in colony number 12 on December 3.
“Taleh Bagirzade said that even when he was serving his sentence in this colony in 2014, the deputy chief created problems for him, called him a “traitor to the motherland.” And now, after being transferred from the Gobustan prison, he insulted his honor,” the lawyer said.
In order to avoid further provocations, Bagirzade demands to be transferred to another colony. Until the fulfillment of his demand, Bagirzade refuses the help of doctors, phone calls and lawyers coming to him, Mehdiyev said.
At the same time, the condition of Bagirzade, who continues the hunger strike for 9 days, is deteriorating. “He still has a fever, chills, severe headaches,” Mehdiyev said.
To the question of how justified Bagirzade's demand was, the lawyer answered in the affirmative.
According to the legislation, the convict must serve his sentence in the territorially closest colony to his place of residence. Taleh Bagirzade is registered in the Yasamal district of Baku. However, while there are three colonies within the city, he was sent to Penitentiary No. 12, which is 25-30 km away. from Baku.
In addition, if a prisoner has a conflict with another convict or the administration of the colony, he must also be transferred to another place.
The defense believes that the Ombudsman and the Red Cross can provide assistance in resolving this issue, and appeals have already been sent to these structures.
* In 2015, Bagirzade was arrested during a special operation in Nardaran and sentenced to 20 years in prison on charges of terrorism, attempting to change the constitutional order, creating an illegal armed group, etc. He was recognized as a political prisoner.-03B06-
