Thale Bagirzade withdraws his complaint on torture

Thale Bagirzade , the arrested leader of the "Muslim unity" Movement,  sent appeal from prison  to the  newspaper "Azadlig", which reported that he  withdraws  his complaint on torture. Bagirzade noted that after his release last summer, he knew that he would be arrested again. He also knew that authorities would no longer  prosecute him in connection with drug, weapons.  That is why Bagirzade  came to the police and the National Security Ministry as only they  summoned him. In the police office he was subjected to violence ,  and therefore filed a complaint  with the prosecutor's office.

"Because of all this, as a result of pseudo-police operation, we were arrested and labeled a terrorist," said Bagirzade.

"Before his arrest, pro-government TV channels showed reports in which we, the Shia, were associated with LIH. Of course, nobody believes it.  The only intention of the "Muslim unity"  was a peaceful struggle. We have always been committed to this. We are the only organization all board members of which have been arrested on false charges," noted Bagirzade.

He also said that during the arrest he was severely tortured and the  torture continued  in the department to fight against bandits. It stopped only after the transferring  Bagirzade to  Baku prison N 1.

"No torture can break me, I keep good spirits. Like every beginning has an end, this oppression will also have an end," he wrote.

"Legitimate complaint to the court about the torture has caused a certain despondency in the religious community. The court  delayed, and some traces of violence have disappeared. As far as I know, part of the faithful who came to the brothers' last hearing,  were arrested.  That is why I decided to withdraw my complaint. I leave to the will of Allah those who used torture against me and other faithful brothers," concluded Bagirzade.

The lawyer Javad Javadov told Turan that previously he had met  with Bagirzade,  and confirmed that Bagirzade  really wanted to withdraw his complaint because of the pressure on the believers coming to court. However, the lawyer does not know about the appeal of  Bagirzade to the newspaper "Azadlig".

The next hearing on the complaint of  Bagirzade against tortures was to be held  on February 24th.

Bagirzade and more than 10 of his supporters were detained on November 26 during a special operation in Nardaran, and charged with attempting to overthrow the constitutional order, and many other serious crimes.-06D-
